Urban Farmers

Urban Farmers CCA was set-up in 2021. In 2022 there are 30 students comprising Sec 1, Sec 2 and one Sec 3. Since its inception, it has grown steadily in taking the lead in managing our own rooftop Edible Learning Garden. Signature yearly events for Urban Farmers include Rice Growing Project and Farmers Market where proceeds go to the financial assistance fund for needy Spectrans. Rice growing is a four-month novel experiential process, when Urban Farmers learn to appreciate the hard work of farmers and the food on their tables. In addition to growing rice, Urban Farmers have opportunities to learn about nutrition, and know where food comes from, how it's grown, and connect with the people who grow it!

In urban Singapore, parks and gardens are an oasis of greenery and calm. In Spectra, we have our very own award-winning Edible Learning Garden, tended to by students from the Urban Farmers CCA and dedicated volunteers.

Spectra’s Edible Learning Garden was featured at the Skyrise Greenery Conference in 2017 and awarded the prestigious Platinum Award, on top of being named ‘Garden of the Year’. We also took home an achievement ribbon for ‘Best Edible Garden’ by the Community in Bloom Awards.
